The project involved a complete renovation and extension of the existing residence, including a new basement, indoor swimming pool, wine cellar and cinema.

The basement and pool required waterproofing, humidity management and long-term durability to be considered from the outset, while structural alterations were carefully integrated into the original building.

Demolition revealed long-standing moisture issues beneath the house, inadequate drainage and ageing footings that required attention before new construction could proceed.

Rather than working around these conditions, drainage was redesigned, additional footings constructed where required, waterproofing upgraded and mechanical subfloor ventilation introduced to create a dry, stable environment beneath the home.

The existing staircase was also refurbished as part of the restoration.

Natural materials define the interior, with Blackbutt flooring, marble fireplaces, marble wall panelling, curved timber ceilings and finely crafted joinery used throughout.

Close coordination between trades ensured consistency across the finishes, particularly the timber staining and detailing, allowing new and existing elements to feel as though they had always belonged together.

The surrounding landscape was extensively reworked alongside the architecture, with new paving, retaining walls, gardens and pergola structures introduced throughout the property.

The existing tennis court was also refurbished, creating a more cohesive connection between the residence and its outdoor spaces.

Much of the work responsible for the home's longevity now sits unseen beneath the finished architecture — resolved drainage, strengthened footings, waterproofing and ventilation.
